CPIA EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ADRESSES SADC-CNGO MEETING
On 7 August 2009, the CPIA Executive Director, Dr. Leonard T. Kapungu adressed the SADC Council of NGOS' meeting on Regional Mediation vs Communal negotiations in South Africa.
The meeting was attended by representatives of 35 NGOs from across the SADC Region. The objective of the meeting was to find ways of responding to the invitation of SADC for te civil society to fully participate in the activities of the SADC Political and Defence and Security Organ. The Director of the Organ addressed the meeting and repeated the invitation for full participation in the Organ's activities.
After much discussion it was decided among other decisions that CPIA leads the Task Force on Civil Society participation in the SADC Mediation and Reference Council and that CPIA be also a member of the Task Force on the Training of civilians in Peace operations. This Task Force will be led by ACCORD. It was agreed that the Task Forces should meet in three or four weeks time to come up with the programme for the next 12 months. The Heads of theNGOs in the task force were urged to attend the SADC CNGO Forum meeting as well as be available at the next meeting of SADC Heads of states both to be held in DRC in the first two weeks of September

CPIA Holds Mediation and Dialogue Workshop in Manicaland, 5 July 2010

The Workshop was held at Mapare Resort in Birchenough Bridge. The purpose of the meeting was to identify common sources of conflicts in the province and to make recommendations on how these conflicts could be resolved and prevented. The meeting was attended by Traditional Leaders, Members of Parliament, Church Leaders, Youth and Women.
